While I Was Waiting... Art created during the Covid 19 lockdown.
The series of work I have produced was done whilst I was at home during the covid 19 lockdown. Away from my studio I adapted to working on a desk in my bedroom, so the work had to be downsized. I switched from oil paints to acrylic paint and used pen and inks, watercolour, and oil pastels, all of which I had not used for a long time. I initially felt restricted and daunted, worrying about the carpet, the bedspread and making a mess everywhere.
The majority is made on smooth A3 Bockingford watercolour paper, with the exception of a few which are on board painted with oils. The images at the begining are oil on canvas and much larger in scale, this was work I started just before lockdown began. These are still to be completed.
I worked to combat boredom and to challenge myself to paint about possitivity, beauty within nature and generally light hearted material that I would hopefully enjoy making. I found the process liberating. In a way I was going back to basics - drawing from life, revisiting favourite themes and subjects. I would share these images with friends and family every week or so, in order to boost my focus and progression. It also effected others in a fun loving and appreciative way, and it helped me to stay connected to others through these worrying times.
I hope you can feel some benefit from browsing through this section.
Best Wishes
